Activities Suffolk

You can find a wide range of activities in Suffolk to keep you busy and entertained throughout your stay in this lovely county.

For the artistic and the curious, in the rural landscape of Dedham Vale, at Flatford Mill, in the buildings painted by John Constable, the National Trust runs arts-based courses for all age-groups.

One of the gentler, magical, activities to try is kite-flying. The beaches are beautiful and the breeze just right – dig out that fun red face with its wavering tails and head off to watch it climb the skies. If that is not enough sky for you, Suffolk is rich in flying, gliding, parachuting, and hang-gliding activities, with prices and instruction packages to suit everyone.

There are plenty of adventure activities in Suffolk for you to try. Go Ape takes you through Thetford Forest not by path but Tarzan-style, scrambling through the tree-tops. Africa Alive continues the daring theme as a park of safari animals, including big cats and bat-eared fox, as well as birds and farmyard animals. You can have a guided tour, and meet animals closer than you’d ever dreamt. You can even be a keeper for a day! Activity-packed.

With its beautiful coastline, Suffolk has all the watersports. Splash about in a boat, or try rafting, watersking, surfing, or enjoy kiteboarding or scuba diving. Equipment and tuition is available. Or, if you don’t wish to propel yourself across the water, there is a range of river and coastal cruises. You can combine a break with learning to sail or show your worth to fellow sea-captains by beating them in regular organised races.

Golf is enhanced by the splendid scenery of Suffolk. Curious to try? Have your first lessons in Suffolk! The golf courses at Hintlesham and Thorpness offer a great time for both the beginner and the experienced golfer who likes a good challenge.

Want to express your wilder nature? Do paintball and go-karting. Or if you are feeling in the military mood, try your hand at shooting and military driving. The diverse range of activities in Suffolk even includes skiing and snowboarding.

And don’t forget those wonderful staples of rural enjoyment – walking, cycling, and horseriding! For more details see
