A Slice of Tradition
For nearly 200 years the succulent smoked hams home cured by a quintessential village shop in rural Suffolk have provided a mouthwatering addition to the nation's Christmas celebrations. Some people travel hundreds of miles to this picturesque corner of Suffolk in the last days of Advent to pick up their smoked hams. This perfect village shop has a speciality in the form of Suffolk black ham, which is marinated in a pickle of stout, molasses and brown sugar for 6 weeks before being hand-smoked, resulting in a coarse, crumbly texture when the meat is boiled or roasted.
