Westleton Barrell Fair
11.00am onwards
Westleton
Stalls will open at 11.00am followed at midday by the official opening ceremony, this year we have 2 very special guests – long-time Westleton residents – Barbara Caines and Peter Dennis. Any previous maids and squires who would like to join the parade from the village are very welcome. There will be a fancy dress competition so get your thinking caps on, the more original the better. The local samba/music band will also be in the procession headed by our own Town crier – Jim Homersham with John Keeble driving his precious classic car at the front.
Following the official opening the first Barrel Race will take place between the Crown and the White Horse, a very competitive event. Further Barrel Races will take place throughout the day, as well as running races for children and adults
During the day hot food and drinks, ice-creams, pancakes, hog roast etc will be on sale and of course the WI tea tent will provide tea/coffee, cakes etc. This year you will be able to enjoy a pianist whilst drinking your tea. We are delighted that the donkey rides will be returning to us and those together with various games and races plus the petting zoo, Punch and Judy and roving magician/balloon modeller should keep the children happily entertained. Rumburgh Morris will perform near the pond during the day and the Random Blues Company, Cheese Collective and The Robert brown Band will provide live music in the White Horse Car Park. All the money raised is used for the benefit of the Village and this year we have contributed to Middleton School to help them buy musical instruments, to the Community Field to help purchase a Green Gym plus supporting annual projects such as maintaining the tubs , helping the Village Archive and much more.
