Ground Floor Room No 1. Available as a super king size bed or twin, with en-suite bathroom . French windows with private patio area.
Thomas Gainsborough Room - Named after Sudbury's most famous son. Well known artist who painted many royal portraits. The damask curtains that drape the french windows and the wool tapestry on the wall behind the bed are reflecting the time of Gainsborough. The colours and textiles in this room were chosen from inspiration from Gainsborough Silk Weaving Mills and Gainsborough House, Sudbury, the family home of Gainsborough. This room will also double up as a private dining room to seat up to 25 people.. There is a private dressing room with enclosed wardrobe next door to the en-suite facilities.

Mark Catesby Room - Named after a botanist who was born at Castle Hedingham and lived in Sudbury. Most famous for his illustrations of animals and plants that inhabited the eastern seaboard of North America. This collection of work was commissioned by King George III and is now on view in The Queens Gallery at Buckingham Palace. The colours and fabrics used in the room is influenced by Catesby for his passion for flora and fauna.
First Floor Room No 3. Kingsize Double with En-suite Shower Room, with Countryside View.
Samuel Courtauld Room - Named after famous local family who owned Silk Mills in Halstead and Braintree, famous for creating Crepe and Rayon. The fabric above the headboard is of crushed velvet in purple which is a colour that Courtauld introduced. This room reflects the art deco period with silvers and grey influenced by their designs in the 1930’s at Eltham Palace, Greenwich..
First Floor Room No 4 Mahogany Four Poster Superking Size Bed with En-Suite Shower Room, with stunning view of the fields beyond.
John Constable – Named after well known East Anglian artist, who was born in Dedham, famous for the Haywain painting and Willie Lotts Cottage and Flatford Mill and other landscapes of East Anglia. A romantic room as landscapes is the essence of this room with five windows to view the rolling countryside as John Constable would have seen.
First Floor Room No 5 Kingsize Double with En-suite Bathroom with Jacuzzi and Shower Room, with Countryside View.
Capt Lawrence Oates – Gestingthorpes’ village famous son. Explorer who joined the famous Polar Expedition 1910-1912 on the Terra Nova Ship, with Captain Scott. The largest of all the rooms with light blues & greys, colour co-ordinated tartan influenced from Capt Oates being a member of the Royal Dragoons.
Ideal for weekend or mid-week break to explore the local countryside for walking. 45 minutes from Cambridge, and 30 minutes from Stansted Airport.
