Great Value Days Out in Suffolk

Getting to Suffolk has never been easier - or cheaper. Coach travel is a great option for travelling on a budget. National Express coaches stop at many places across the county; Ipswich, Felixstowe, Sudbury and Newmarket to name just a few. They also run a ‘Funfares’ promotion on which you can travel for just £1, Cambridge is one of the destinations included. If you travel frequently it is also worth checking out their coach card schemes.

The train is another easy and cost effective way to travel both to and within Suffolk. Again, there are deals that can cut the cost even further. The Anglia Plus railcard includes travel on most National Express, East Midlands trains and First Capital Connect services and, on most, you can take your bike for no extra charge. There are options for travel on one day, three consecutive days and seven consecutive days. More information can be found at www.nationalrail.co.uk

Another great deal on travel to Suffolk is the 4 travel 2 pay scheme. This includes trains to places including Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Lakenheath and Bury St Edmunds. You can find out more at www.groupsave.co.uk

Once you’ve arrived in Suffolk you’ll find that there is a lot to do that costs very little or is completely free. The biggest draw to the area has to be the marvellous countryside and there are so many different ways to enjoy it. Walking is, of course, free and is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family. If you would be a little nervous setting out on a walk on your own then you may be interested to learn about www.getting-out.co.uk. This is a fantastic set up that offers guided walks around many of the trails in the county. Led by those who really know the area well, it’s a great way to make sure you don’t miss the best views and the cost is minimal. You simply log onto the website and book your place and pay at the beginning of the walk. Under sixteens are free.
