Halesworth Gig in the Park
Gig in the Park, fast becoming East Anglia’s number one festival and now in its 12th year has put together another bumper collection of headline acts for this years event.
Held in Halesworth’s Town Park over the weekend of 6 – 8th August this years event will be headlined by punk legends The Undertones. Formed in 1978 and championed by the late John Peel they have had hits with the anthem Teenage Kicks, My perfect cousin and Jimmy Jimmy amongst others. They are still in demand as a touring act and are bound to be a big draw for this years festival. Supporting on Saturday will be Sweedish banjo punk queens Baskery.
A new act they are already making major waves in the music business and are currently touring all over the world and appearing at this years Glastonbury festival. Remember where you saw them first! Jon Allen will be returning by public demand following his show stopping performance at last years festival. Jon has been busy since last year promoting his album Dead Man’s Suit and was delighted to be asked to appear in Halesworth once again.
Friday will be headlined by Showawaddywaddy who need no introduction to festival goers. Formed in 1973 and boasting 10 top ten singles including Under the Moon of Love they are bound to get the party started in Halesworth Park. Friday will also feature the ever popular Amplifier project showcase featuring young musicians from the local area.
Lee Vasey and his big band make a welcome return to round of the proceedings on Sunday night bringing the soundtrack of your life from the last three decades to get the park dancing. Support on Sunday is from Bungay blues act Hot or Wot. As usual there will be a full supporting bill of bands, both national and local acts over three stages over the three days and of course the usual real ale bar and food from around the globe.
