Traditional Bakery

Description

Real Bread from Real Bakers

The Bakery was established in circa 1752 in the medieval village of Haughley. It the oldest Family run bakery in the County of Suffolk

Today, after five generations and the reigns of Six Monarchs, the 16th Century Bakehouse still stands on the Village Green of Haughley producing daily a variety of Fresh Bread and Confectionery and run by father and son team, Kenneth and Kieron Palmer (Fourth & Fifth Generations)

Our Bakers rise from their beds early in the morning to bake ‘your daily bread’ using traditional methods and recipes handed down by the family and fellow, Master Bakers.

We use traditional Ingredients in our products such as Flour, Butter, Sugar, Eggs and Yeast as well as other locally produced ingredients

The Bread is Baked Daily in our ancient Brick Ovens and ‘drawn’ from within by a ‘peel’. They are ‘fired’ to the correct temperature by flame to produce the perfect crust. The vaulted Brick Ovens retain their distinct flavour unmatched by commercial supermarkets and the Ovens never cool or they will crumble and collapse

Early in the morning as people wake, the mouth watering sweet smell of freshly baked bread, rolls and other cakes is a familiar scent in the air and attracts ducks from the village castle moat to our door - as well as customers!

We produce a wide range of Bread from White, Granary & Wholemeal to Tomato, Rye and Olive Breads as well as an extensive range of Savoury, Freshly Prepared Filled Rolls, Patisserie and Bespoke Celebration, Wedding & Birthday Cakes & Sponges. So for your
