This year's Ip-Art Festival will take place on 15 June to 14 July 2012.
Suffolk looks forward to its premier festival this summer!
The Ipswich Arts Festival (Ip-art) has been the Town's annual summer arts festival since 2003 and seen a developing and varied programme of events from visual arts, performing arts, literature, film and music.
Encompassing venues across the town and complementing Ipswich's economic expansion by invigorating it's cultural growth, the Ipswich Arts Festival has provided an exciting programme of arts for the people of Ipswich and beyond to enjoy that is both appealing and accessible to all sections of the community.
Ipswich Arts Festival aims to promote and encourage arts of the highest possible standard by bringing together a programme of events that offer equal opportunity for all sections of the public to experience and enjoy.
Here are some of the Festival's highlights - -
MUSIC
Bo Nanafana presents Speakeasy - 22 June 2012
An evening of jazz-age dazzle from the Roaring 20s in the glittering Spiegeltent Speakeasy. Starring Swing Zazou – a thoroughly modern electro gypsy jazz band – and cabaret from Kiki Kaboom – half sex kitten, half clown, all woman! DJs, Compère Pete Dobbing, free dance class and surprises.

Adam Ant - 13th July 2012
The legendary ADAM ANT brings his all hits and new material show exclusively to Ipswich on July 13th 2012. 'Stand and Deliver' 'Ant Rap' 'Kings of the Wild Frontier 'Friend or Foe' and 'Prince Charming' to mention but a few are all there in this amazing colourful and theatrical show---just not to be missed. Pure entertainment !

Last Night of the Jubilee Proms - 30 June 2012
Join the Heart of England Orchestra for an evening of Proms classics and flag-waving favourites, accompanied by an explosive firework finale. Featuring Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, Nessun Dorma, 1812 Overture and a host of modern favourites.
Bring a chair, rug and a picnic
No glass or glass bottles are permitted in the arena.

SHERLOCK JR (40 minutes)
Buster Keaton A film projectionist longs to be a detective, and puts his meagre skills to work when he is framed by a rival for stealing his girlfriend's father's pocketwatch.
ONE WEEK (20 minutes)
Buster Keaton Buster and Sybil exit a chapel as newlyweds. Among the gifts is a portable house you easily put together in one week. It doesn't help that Buster's rival for Sybil switches the numbers on the crates containing the house parts.
EASY STREET (23 minutes)
Charlie Chaplin A reformed tramp becomes a police constable who must fight a huge thug who dominates an inner city street.

Open Air Screening - Mama Mia
Longing to discover the identity of her true father before she exchanges her wedding vows, spirited Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), daughter of a once-rebellious single mother Donna (Meryl Streep), secretly invites a trio of paternal candidates to her upcoming wedding. Now, as three key figures from Donna's past return to the picturesque Mediterranean shores they all walked 20 years before, one beautiful bride will discover the secret of her past while one lonely mother finds out that it's never too late for a little romance. LITERATURE
Poetryfest at Arlingtons - 26th June
Invited by Poetry Anglia, poet Heidi Williamson hosts an Ip-art PoetryFest. Heidi reads from her work and joins regular Café poets and Festivalgoers to take us on a sparkling journey in rhyme, verse and rap, through every time, place and form.
Bring your ears, but better still share a favourite poem - or a few, if time permits. Simple rules: not much more than 40 lines, first come, first read.
Heidi's first collection Electric Shadow was published by Bloodaxe Books in 2011 and became a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.
PoetryAnglia is an informal network of poets and poetry lovers coming from all over the region and beyond as a Poetry Society Stanza. Café poets meet at Arlingtons monthly.

A Fiction Materclass with MJ Hyland
In this practical, hands-on workshop, Booker-shortlisted author, M.J Hyland teaches you the fundamentals of writing great short stories. Drawing on 20 years experience as an editor, writer and teacher, Maria talks in direct and entertaining terms about how to turn your early drafts into strong, publishable fiction.
Author of three award-winning novels, M.J Hyland regularly gives masterclasses for The Guardian and The Faber Academy and lectures in creative writing at the University of Manchester.
