The Black Lion is delighted to announce that new head chef, Scottish born, Murdo Macritchie has joined the team. Fresh from Cornwall where he ran a successful 3*** restaurant, Murdo is new to East Anglia and is look forward to meeting and working with new suppliers and producers from the region. His new spring menu will feature many classics and some surprising twists which will all be made from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Spring dishes will include fillet of wild sea trout, Norfolk horn lamb from Kentwell Hall, poached rabbit loin & roasted lobster tail and new season English asparagus.

The Black Lion’s award-winning restaurant and bar is open for lunch and dinner, offering a substantial menu featuring many hearty favourites including Pot Roasted Rougham Estate pheasant, Annette's famous fish pie, Angus oxtail steamed suet pudding. A relaxed Sunday at The Black Lion has become a tradition for many customers, enjoying roast Rib of Beef with all of the trimmings.

The Black Lion offers a perfect business venue with private meeting rooms, luxurious bedrooms, delicious food and professional service so that you can be sure that your business meetings will run smoothly. The Georgian Room seats 50 theatre style or 20 boardroom style. Smaller meetings are held in the Study around a large circular table seating up to 16 people. Daily delegate rates or 24-hour rates for over 10 delegates are available. The Hotel's central location is ideal for Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury, Newmarket and Ipswich and with Stansted airport just 50 miles away it is easily accessable.
