Long Melford is one of Suffolk’s most appealing and attractive country villages, full of breath-taking scenery and fascinating historical buildings.
Its name derives from the village’s original layout and today refers to Hall Street – the long main street that stretches the entire length of the town. Also close by for day trips are Bury St Edmunds, home of the ruins at the Abbey; Ipswich, with its vibrant marina and excellent shops & restaurants; Hadleigh, a great place to stroll to the River Brett or visit the market; plus Cavendish and its rambling Village Green.
