Arabian Horse: From the Desert to the World - 22/03 - 13/07
This exhibition tells the story of the Arab horse from its earliest Bedouin origins to the present day, exploring in particular the fascinating story of the arrival of the Arab horse in Britain. In the 19th century, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt and his wife Lady Anne scoured the Middle East to import Arab horses to their stud at Crabbet Park and therefore played a vital role in the success of the breed. Their story is and the activities of the Arab Horse Society are presented in the exhibition through a compelling series of objects. Situated upstairs in the Thompson Galleries and included in general admission.

You will spend the morning visiting the gallops, a trainer's yard and then onto the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art or The National Stud.Your time spent in the trainer's yard gives you an opportunity to see your favourite stars and meet the team behind scenes. Due to racing commitments we can't guarantee you will meet the trainer but if not, there will always be a member of senior staff on hand to give you the inside track!

After a driven tour around the town you will visit the fascinating National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art where you can learn about the royal connections to the town and the history of where racing began, right here!
You will then be taken up to the Racecourse for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. Not only will you visit the Weighing Room, Royal Box and Commentators Box, you will also get to experience the buzz inside the Parade Ring, brushing shoulders with owners, trainers and jockeys as they prepare for a race!
Your Premier Enclosure badges which are included in the price of the tour take you into the most prestigious enclosures on the course where you can enjoy an afternoon of exciting racing.

You will start your day by visiting the thriving Newmarket Gallops where you will see some of the 3,000 racehorses exercising on the 2,500 acres of Jockey Club Estates land. Then get a behind-the-scenes tour of a busy racing yard before heading to the prestigious members' only club, The Jockey Club Rooms.
Founded in the middle of the 18th century, the wonderfully preserved Jockey Club Rooms still boasts original features from the days when gentlemen, politicians and royalty met to discuss, wager and argue over their racehorses. Saturday 2 June - Summer Light - Glass Workshop

Working with science based glass artist Jenny Walsh, this drop in workshop is aimed give all ages the opportunity to work with glass. Participants are invited to create individual pieces with glass slides to take home. This event will explore 'Summer Light' and how the different colours in nature inspires artists. Please feel free to bring items along that remind you of Summer to share and use for inspiration for your glass creation.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, not recommended for children under 5. £10 per person

Discover Newmarket is proud to bring you this fascinating tour.
The History and Heritage Tour includes a historic Walking Tour where you can discover the history and heritage of Newmarket from the time of King James I to the present day and learn how the town has developed into the international Home of Horseracing.
Starting at 09.00 at the top of the high street at the Bill Tutte Memorial, the tour will take in sights of historical interest including Palace House, the Jockey Club Rooms, All Saints Church and Tattersalls. The walking tour on it's own will last approx two hours.
If you choose the supplementry option of breakfast along with the walking tour, you will then be taken to The Tack Room, where you will enjoy a sumptuous breakfast tier.
The complete History and Heritage walking tour includes both the full walking tour and breakfast tier at The Tack Room outlined above, as well as the newly opened National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art which is situated in Charles II's sporting palace and stables and spans five acres in the heart of Newmarket. During the visit there will be time to enjoy lunch in the Tack Room restaurant if desired after exploring the sites three complimentary attractions.

Friday 15 June - Learn to Work with Cameras
Spend the day developing the skill of photographing live horses in our very own Rothschild Yard.
Work with our beautiful equine residents and discover the beauty of the thoroughbred horse through the lens, the morning session will look at photographing still horses while the afternoon session will look at photographing horses in motion.

With our special Tattersalls package you will start your day with a guided tour of the Newmarket Gallops where you will see some of the 3,000 racehorses exercising on the heath followed by a visit to a busy Trainer's yard. You will then visit The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art for a tour and a spot of lunch before being taken up to Tattersalls to have a behind-the-scenes tour and learn what bloodstock agents and buyers are looking for when picking a horse to bid on. You will get to sit in the famous Tattersalls ring and witness the adrenaline and excitement as horses are paraded and bid on for thousands of Guineas.
