Birthplace of Benjamin Britten in 1913, leading composer of our time, Lowestoft originated as a danish settlement. The town is famous for its fishing industry and between 1757 & 1802 Lowestoft china was manufactured in the town.
Fine sandy beaches on the coast, crumbling cliffs at Dunwich, low rolling hills overlooking the Waveney Valley nestling Beccles and Bungay to Oulton Broad and a network of inland waterways (The Broads).
