Picnic Jazz at The Pavilion 2011 is fortunate to have secured the services of two outstanding groups to entertain on July 24th behind the river wall in the beautiful gardens of The Pavilion in Orford.
Tina May, considered by many to be the finest jazz vocalist ever produced by Britain, is a regular performer at the top jazz and arts festivals as well as in broadcasts with the BBC Big Band. She will be performing on the sound stage in Orford with the Tony Coe Quartet featuring drummer Winston Clifford, saxophonist and clarinettist Tony Coe, bass player Mark Hodgson and guitarist John Etheridge.
Regulars at Picnic Jazz will be delighted that we welcome the return of the supremely talented Natasha Hodge with the "Jolly Pianist" Nick Raison following their outstanding performance last year. They hope to persuade the gifted saxophonist Paul Hodgson to form a trio this year.
Proceeds will go to Orford Shrimps Playgroup and Music Tuition for Orford Primary School as well as other local good causes.
If you haven't experienced Picnic Jazz at The Pavilion then you have missed out on one of the most relaxing and enjoyable events on the Orford calendar.

"Thank you for a delightful afternoon at the Pavilion.This was my first visit to Orford and the drive from Bury St Edmunds through the Suffolk countryside was so enjoyable, the setting for the event was lovely, the weather was superb and I really enjoyed listening to Tina May and the quartet - I shall make a note in my diary to look out for this event again next year!
