Polstead

The village of Polstead is set in the heart of Constable country and is only a few miles from the interesting, old market town of Hadleigh.
Polstead is also within easy reach of the Cross Channel Passenger Terminals of Harwich and Felixstowe.

An area of outstanding natural beauty, Polstead is the perfect centre for your exploration of some of the finest villages and towns in East Anglia.

Polstead Church dates back to 1160 and is only a short walk from the Lodge.

The village is famous for the Victorian murder of Maria Martin, "The Murder in the Red Barn." Polstead is a renowned cherry growing area and people come from far and wide to sample the "Polstead Black".

Nearby towns and villages within a short, scenic drive include:

Lavenham - an historic town, full of attractive medieval buildings.
Long Melford - famous for its antique shops and magnificent country halls.
Flatford Mill - home and subject of the renowned painter, John Constable.
Kersey - a pretty village, popular with artists today who try to capture the beauty of the famous high street.
Colchester - Britain's oldest recorded town with over 2000 years of history to explore.

We can offer a central base for golfing breaks and holidays, having the following golf courses nearby:

Stoke-by-Nayland - 2 miles
Brett Vale - 4 miles
Hintlesham Hall - 8 miles

We also provide Wedding Accommodation for guests attending Weddings at nearby venues, including Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Polstead Church and Doves Barn. My husband operates a local taxi service so transport to and from your Venue can easily be arranged!
