Quality Assessment Scheme for self catering accommodation
When choosing a cosy country cottage, a grand country house for a big family party or a hostel in Suffolk, the Quality Rose is the mark of England's official, nationwide quality assessment scheme, run by Enjoy England.
All assessing bodies throughout the UK use the same critieria and award one to five stars to a businesss to ensure consistancy of approach. The star ratings reflect the quality of the experience offered by the establishment. All accommodation to be rated must be self-contained and have kitchen facilities to be eligible for these ratings assessments.
The Enjoy England team visit each property every year, and assess more than 10,000pa. Each establishment is checked and awarded points based on a quality score for every aspect of the accommodation. This includes layout, design, comfort, quality and most importantly cleanliness. Higher rated accommodation tends to have a more spacious layout, high spec appliances, and high quality linen and tableware.
Establishments that are truly customer focussed will be awarded a higher star rating.
For example, at 5 star establishments you can expect luxurious surroundings and a very warm welcome!
1 star Simple, practical, no frills
2 stars Well presented and well run
3 stars Good level of quality and comfort
4 stars Excellent level of quality and comfort
5 stars Exceptional degree of luxury
Not all establishements have a Quality Rose and this might be because they have chosen not to subscribe to the scheme.
