Romantic Suffolk

In Romantic Suffolk we have the perfect countryside and atmosphere to enhance your time away. February may not be known for its warm weather but in Suffolk visitors are always welcome and there is always plenty to do, whatever the weather.

Many restaurants, hotel and pubs are offering special Valentines treats, including Hintlesham Hall Hotel which offers the perfect surroundings to share a special evening with your loved one. Our resident pianist will set a romantic scene. Our sumptuous Valentine’s Dinner, per person, is £75 to include a glass of Rosé Champagne and Chef’s famous Canapés on arrival, four-course gourmet dinner with coffee and chocolate truffles and a gift for your loved one to add that perfect finishing touch. We are also offering an Extra Special Two-Night Valentine’s Package at exceptional prices.
See our link for the full details of our Valentine’s Day offer.

There are so many restaurants to choose from you will certainly find something to suit your taste and your budget.

For dining with a difference you could climb aboard The Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant. The boat sets sail from Orford Quay and offers a champagne brunch or an a la carte lunch menu all year round. You will sail up the Rivers Ore and Alde, passing Havergate Island and Orford Ness and will be warmed by the cosy coal fire as you go.

If you're fond of being outdoors then you'll love to wrap up warm to see our stunning countryside. You're never far away from a riverside view and there is plenty of wildlife to spot, not least at the RSPB reserves of Minsmere and Havergate Island, which is near the Romantic
Crown and Castle, Orfordpictured above, which always provides a fabulous long weekend at any time of the year.

For a taste of times gone by there a number of castles and stately homes that remain open all year round. The 12th Century castle in Orford is open every day except Tuesday and Wednesday as is Framlingham Castle. The old Abbey in Bury St Edmunds is also open throughout the year and Sutton Hoo is welcoming visitors all Valentines week.

The Crown Inn, Stoke by Nayland (above) is perfect for a Romantic weekend getaway in Suffolk. The eleven rooms are quietly located to the rear of the property, overlooking open countryside. All rooms are individually decorated and very comfortably furnished, with handcrafted beds and Henderson Russell Furniture. Rooms on the ground floor are contemporary in design whilst the rooms upstairs are furnished in a country home style with Enchanted House iron bedsteads. A full English breakfast is included and is served from 7.30. For those making an earlier start a continental style breakfast with freshly baked breads, homemade jams and marmalade can be served in your room.

A meander along the Thoroughfare in Woodbridge is a lovely trip out. Here you will find many small, independent shops nestled in between the larger high street chains. One such shop is a very apt stop for Valentines Day - Les Chocolats Belge. Chocolate and Valentines go together perfectly and the shop owner, Valerie Loades, has gone the extra mile. She has decorated some of the boxes to include items of jewellery - maybe Woodbridge will see more Valentines Day proposals than usual this year?

Other places to visit for a romantic stroll include Aldeburgh where you can make your way along the sea front. This location inspired much of Benjamin Britten's work, and there is a sculpture in honour of him. Another seaside walk is in Southwold where you could make your way slowly down the Pier. Inland Lavenham and Long Melford is perfect for a Romantic weekend - you could even stay at The George, a true East Anglian Inn!

In Romantic Suffolk you are really spoilt for choice when looking for accommodation; from small, family run Bed and Breakfasts to the larger, more extravagant hotels, you really can take your pick.

Or come for the day and enjoy spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at a cosy village pub - there are lots of them to choose from in Suffolk, and many serve excellent, freshly prepared food. See Pubs in Suffolk Some of them have accommodation too!

Wherever you decide to visit in Romantic Suffolk you are sure to have a wonderful Valentines break away. It's just the perfect place to enjoy the company of those you love.
