SOS is a well established and respected art organisation with over 100 members spread throughout Suffolk.
Our aim is to promote the creation and appreciation of the visual arts in our county by opening our studios collectively every June. You can meet the producers & artists, and gain an insight into our workings. We also organise various exhibitions throughout the year - click 'view website' button for forthcoming events.
Our Open Studio Event in 2017 runs over 4 weekends the - 3rd/4th, 10/11th, 17/18th and 24/25th of June
Over 110 Suffolk artists will be opening their studios to the public over the weekends of June 2017 as part of the long-running Suffolk Open Studios initiative.
Spanning a huge range of art, including oils, watercolours, acrylics, photography, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, glassware, sculpture, 2D and 3D mixed media, printmaking, mosaics and much more, the Open Studios event grows bigger each year with more artists participating and more members of the public visiting the studios.
Suffolk Open Studios has been running since 1993 and now the network of artists now covers the whole of Suffolk.
As Suffolk Open Studios covers such a big area, visitors are encouraged to use the guidebook and website in advance to check routes and opening hours, and to make a day of it, planning a route to visit a range of studios and a local pub or café for lunch.
As usual Suffolk Open Studios will be publishing a free colour directory of all exhibiting artists, which includes details on where they are located and when they will be open. This is the essential guide for all art lovers. There is no need to book when a studio is open, outside of those times it would be prudent to book a visit.
