Nestled away in true Suffolk countryside, steeped in history – the Mill Hotel in Sudbury has plenty to offer.

Sudbury is the birthplace of the country’s most famous portrait artist, Thomas Gainsborough. Within minutes walk of the hotel is the Gainsborough Museum in Sudbury High Street where you can see much of his work. Sudbury is also located close to the birthplace of another of our famous painters, John Constable, making The Mill the ideal base to explore Constable country and Gainsboroughs Museum.

Situated in between Bury St Edmunds and Colchester, and close both to Long Melford and Lavenham, there is so much to do for everybody! Visiting Colchester Zoo and Newmarket Racecourse is often high on the agenda for our guests!

The Mill is also situated 30 miles from Stansted Airport and just a 10 minute walk from Sudbury Train Station (train line into Stratford for the 2012 Olympics, and Liverpol Street via Marks Tey) and also offers complimentary wireless internet and we have our own hotel car park.

All of our public areas have been refurbished to the highest of standards.

The Hotel has 63 well appointed bedrooms with several overlooking the Watermeadows. Awaking to the sound of birds or the smooth flow of the River Stour – relaxation has never been so more perfect than here at the Mill.

We are continuously upgrading our facilities so some rooms have been recently refurbished and others are in the process of an upgrade, so please bare with us!

Our Head Chef, Terry Reynolds, sources local produce wherever possible to ensure we feature the best & freshest of the area on our menu. The Riverside Restaurant offers a sophisticated, relaxed dining experience, and our carefully selected wine list offers both new and old world.

Alternatively, for a more casual approach wwe offer dining facilities in our Meadows Bar overlooking the wonderful meadows. Or you could meet in the Meadow Bar for an aperitif before dinner in the Riverside, and then retire back to the bar for coffee overlooking the meadows?
