There are examples of luxury that few anywhere can beat – if you feel that life owes you the break of the decade, you can choose a wonderfully self-spoiling environment. Why get up? Whatever time that you decide to get up, Suffolk is the place to laze, or spoil yourself with sights and activities.

But don’t worry if you are on a budget. Suffolk Hotels are wide ranging and for those looking for value for money attentive staff and pretty rooms can be found for you too. For example, in Ipswich, Holiday Inn Orwell has 60 rooms on offer, catering to the corporate as well as the leisure markets.

If you prefer the informality of family run Hotels, Suffolk is the place for you as there are many Hotels here that have been in family hands for generations. One example is Parkhill Hotel near Lowestoft. Parts of this former family farmhouse date from the early 18th century - but don't worry the accommodation has been updated since!

History enthusiasts can contemplate hostelries as they once were. One can find examples of hotels in Suffolk that have survived since the 15th century complete with its medieval paintings. A lovely example is the Framlingham Crown Hotel which is a fantastic example of a 16C Coaching Inn. Crown Hotel, Framlingham

Or there's the charming Limes Hotel in lovely Needham Market, a graceful town with Georgian houses in the High Street, and excellent examples of Tudor architecture in the centre of this small historic town.

For those wanting a more rural experience, several Suffolk Hotels have converted barns or farm buildings and turned them in to luxury accommodation. The Ivy House Country Hotel in Lowestoft is a good example.

Romance can be accommodated in quantity. Suffolk boasts some of the oldest, most interesting, and beautifully located hotels in England. Several hotels in Suffolk hold civil licences and have become specialists in marriages with wedding breakfasts to follow – such is the power of Suffolk to scent the romance and tie the knot. Where better to stay than The Old Rectory in Woodbridge - you might even meet the vicar at breakfast?!

And for the foodies amongst us, the Crown and Castle in Orford is highly recommended. Run by Ruth Watson an award-winning food writer and a long-time contributor to Sainsbury’s Magazine and BBC Good Food. She has also written three best-selling books, The Really Helpful Cookbook, Fat Girl Slim and Something for the Weekend. The Crown and Castle

Closer to the Essex border, Milsoms Hotel and Restaurant also has a first class reputation for contemporary gastro-bar, with 15 stylish and modern bedrooms. Well worth checking out checking in

If messing about on the River is more your thing, positioned alongside the River Lark, Mildenhall, the Riverside Hotel is an interesting option - it was originally built circa 1720 and has retained its enchanting traditional charm. Greeted by traditional roaring fires, guests will find a warm and friendly atmosphere complemented by our considerate and professional service.
