If you fancy some hearty, traditional, home-cooked fare then a visit to Thornham Coach House Restaurant, Thornham Magna will not disappoint. This converted coach house now contains a family-run restaurant and cafe offering up large portions of fresh, local produce that are great value-for-money in a relaxed and friendly environment. The restaurant walls display unique works of art from local artists which are available for purchase.

The Sutton Plough, Sutton, located just 3 miles from Woodbridge, is a traditional country pub offering the very best in home-cooked and locally sourced food. The building retains the classic features of a country pub – beams, open fire – and is warm and welcoming. There is a large wine list to choose from, or a wide range of other beverages to accompany your meal. The menu has something to temp everyone, and the Sunday Roasts make for a great family day out - especially during the warmer months when there is a bouncy castle in the large garden.

Maybe the great British roast is more your style? What better way to spend a Sunday lunchtime than tucking into a locally reared roast leg of lamb, golden roast chicken or tender joint of beef with all the trimmings.
You don't have to slave over a hot stove all day for this - Suffolk Pubs are the place for you! Find pubs with fantastic restaurants, like The Six Bells, Preston St Mary, The Fox and Goose Inn in Fressingfield, and The Bildeston Crown in Bildeston.

Orford is a little off the beaten path but again well worth the drive so that you can eat at The Kings Head Inn.

Indian Cuisine

Melford Valley Tandoori Restaurant offers a superb range of both tradtional and modern Indian dishes. One of their specialities includes Paturee, pan fried Suffolk crab cakes with tiger prawns wrapped in a banan leaf - delicious! They also offer a Buffet option and a Weight Watchers options.

To tantalise your taste buds with something spicy, check out Masha of India, Ipswich! Each dish on offer - and there are plenty to choose from - is freshly prepared using precise measurements and fresh ingredients to ensure you are delighted with every mouthful. Open seven days a week with a buffet on Sundays & Mondays and a take away option available.

At Montaz, Newmarket you can experience old Punjabi recipes combined with contemporary presentation. Aside from all well-known favourites (including Jalfrezi, Biryani and Tikka Masala, amongst many), Montaz's menu also offers rare delights such as rabbit, venison, quail and even squid! Montaz is a chic and stylish choice for the discerning diner, and are open 7 days a week.

Cafe Marsala, Long Melford is a top restaurant offering the best in Indian cuisine. With over 30 years experience preparing authentic menus from recipes handed down through generations, you are sure to find something for everyone on their extensive menu. The restaurant is open seven days a week, with a great value Family Buffet on every Sunday.

Another excellent Indian restaurant is Little India, Little Maplestead. A dedicated and friendly staff will welcome and assist you, and the Indian and Bangladeshi menu is vast and consists of freshly prepared meals to get your taste buds tingling! If there is a dish you would like that is not on the menu, you may enquire and staff will be happy to try to prepare it for you. The restaurant's décor is beautiful and traditional, and there is a lively atmosphere that makes for a fantastic evening out with friends or family.
French Cuisine

Probably one of Suffolk's best known French restaurants is The Great House in Lavenham, which has been awarded the 'Best East of England Restaurant of the Year’ from Which? Good Food Guide as well as the ‘Best Restaurant with Rooms of the Year’ from The Good Hotel Guide.

Another award-winning restaurant offering the very finest French cuisine is Maison Bleue Restaurant, Bury St Edmunds. Their Lunch Menu is especially popular, so be sure to book in advance by clicking on the link above!
Mediterranean Cuisine

Café Bencotto, Felixstowe, is a modern and chic yet friendly and informal restuarant. The menu is filled with pastas, pizzas and grills prepared in the open-plan kitchen, so you can enjoy the delicious flavours of Arabian, Greek, Spanish & Italian origins. There are many dishes that can be shared at your table in the traditional Mediterranean manner, and the wine list is impressive to say the least. Café Bencotto is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am till 11pm, so perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Gastro, Bistro & Brasserie Dining

The Angel Inn at Stoke by Nayland is a lovely place eat out at any time of the day breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner! This traditional Suffolk pub features open fires, low ceilings and lots of original brickwork & oak beams, and has a seasonally changing, contemporary menu of British, modern European and classic French food - not to mention a very impressive wine list! The Alex, Felixstowe, is a stylish café, bar and brasserie, open daily with fantastic seafront views. The groundfloor Café Bar offers a wide range of breakfasts, light bites, cakes and all kinds of drinks from coffee to cocktails! The upstairs Brasserie offers delicious seafood, grills and classic brasserie meals in an informal setting. Along with the full menu there is also a set price menu available noon till 6pm on week days.

Quayside, Ipswich, is a fantastic all-day cafe, bar and restaurant all in one located on the Regatta development of Ipswich Waterfront. The large restaurant is light & modern, and serves a good selection of British cuisine that changes with the seasons. The restaurant also caters for group bookings from the early hours right up until midnight, making it ideal for a business breakfast, a light lunch with friends or an evening celebration.

The Swan, Long Melford is a chic and contemporary brassiere that features an ever-changing menu of fresh, local ingredients - the Sunday Roast is not to be missed! Find something to suit all tastes and budgets here. There is also a lovely outside dining area with a pretty garden, plus a peaceful outside sofa area and beautiful lawn.

The Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf And Spa's newly-refurbished Lakes Restaurant is open to the public, members and hotel guests - commanding superb views over the lake and 18th greens of both championship golf courses. Confirming its place as one of the region's best restaurants the Lakes Restaurant was recently awarded an AA Rosette.

One of the many joys of Suffolk Restaurants is in discovering new areas that you might otherwise not have come across. One restaurant well worth exploring for is The Lindsay House Restaurant in the lovely town of Eye in north Suffolk. This is a small restaurant and the owners run it so it has a very friendly and intimate feel to it. And the food is superb!

Treat yourself to a meal at Scutchers Restaurant of Long Melford and you will discover a varied menu of light meals, starters, mains and delicious desserts. For a meal out with a difference, check out The Devil's Kitchen Collective, Bury St Edmunds. This is a great night out for anyone who loves great music and tasty food - and don't we all!

The Suffolk Food Hall, Ipswich is a great place for all Foodies. Here you can sample local delicacies and it is a centre of excellence for local food. The Food Hall brings together several businesses under one roof providing an outlet for the best local quality food.
You can buy local meat from the butcher, fish, fresh produce (possibly dig up that morning!), plants and flowers from the garden centre, and lots of local treats. And when you’ve done your shopping you can take advantage of the fact that the Food Hall is stunningly situated within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and its Samford Restaurant enjoys panoramic views down the River Orwell.

Once again, because of Suffolk people’s natural and strong interest in food, you can find tiny, informal, independent cafes serving up great food and tasty drinks, in a style and to budgets that suit. We have cafes in Potteries and cafes in grand National Trust properties, a cafe on a pig farm at Jimmy's Pig Farm, Ipswich and even some in steam train museums such as Bressingham Steam and Gardens, Bressingham and Colne Valley Railway, Castle Hedingham.
