The summer months are now behind us, but fear not! There are plenty of fun things to do happening throughout the whole of Suffolk this autumn, and the Suffolk Tourist Guide is here to help you organise your calendar.

There are a great many special events happening at RSPB Minsmere in Saxmundham this autumn - ranging from birdwatching and guided walks, to talks & presentations and a number of events and activities for families and children. If you and your family are nature lovers, click on the link above for a full list, and to make a booking.
One autumn event to look out for in particular is The Annual Red Deer Rut on at 3.30 pm to dusk at weekends from Saturday 24 September to Sunday 23 October as part of their 'Autumnwatch' event.
Autumn is the best time to observe these impressive creatures. The red deer rut viewpoint is free. Car parking will be in the Natural England car park on Westleton Heath. The viewpoint is a gentle half mile walk from there, and will be signed. Please click on the link above to book.

Invitation to View offers a wonderful opportunity for the public to see some of Suffolk's most famous and exclusive homes and halls not otherwise open to the public by private appointment. Many properties are open to view this autumn. Please click on the link above to view descriptions of some of the fantastic properties available to view.

Enjoy something tasty this autumn by visiting the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival on 24-25th September and the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Fringe Festival running from 24th September until 8th October. There will be loads of local producers, workshops, demonstrations, talks & discussion forums, children’s activities, musical entertainment, guided walks and - of course - ample tastings of food, wine & beer! Booking in advance is necessary.
The Fressingfield Music Festival is on 27th September - 1st October - one of the best small music festivals in the country, hosting five nights of world class music.

The Halesworth Arts Festival is on 8th-23rd October. Attend talks on just about every 'arts' subject going, including music, film, painting, performance theatre and more!

Also, the Framlingham Autumn Arts Festival is on 14th-16th October, the Suffolk Herring Festival on 22nd-23rd October, and finally, the Southwold Literature Festival is on 10th-14th November.

Christmas & New Year in Suffolk is fast approaching with many events on in the months leading up to the big day, and autumn is the best time to plan and book your Christmas & New Year Breaks in Suffolk, your Christmas & New Year Parties in Suffolk, and, of course, you will need to decide which Christmas Presents from Suffolk you want to get!

Sat 1 Oct - Artist Making an Exhibition of Themselves - 6-9pm - Admission £3
Both will be held at Blackthorpe Barn, Bury St Edmunds.

Also in November there is: Smiths Row at Christmas on Saturday 12 November to Saturday 7 January at 09:00 - 17:00
Smiths Row at Christmas will be a celebration of the very best of British Craft and an opportunity to buy something beautiful and unique. This exhibition will bring together new and established makers working in ceramics, jewelry, textiles, printmaking, glass and more. There will be something for everyone, whether an indulgence or the perfect gift!

A wonderful free event is Suffolk Heritage Open Days. You are invited to celebrate England's fantastic architecture and culture by visiting properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Running from Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th September, this is a once-a-year opportunity to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture.

The Harvest Festival at Jimmy’s Farm on 9th-12th September is a special weekend event that promises to be fun for all the family. Hosted by Jimmy himself, visitors will be treated to demonstrations from TV chefs, taste delicious locally sourced food & drink, let the kids enjoy an endless playground of specially created entertainment and also watch the best bands around. This is the perfect way to begin the autumn months.
