Suffolk is a great place to visit but you have to know how to get there! Leave the car at home and let someone else take the strain.

From London, Suffolk is served from Liverpool Street station.
Services from Birmingham, the East Midlands and the North of England generally have Peterborough as their first stop before continuing on towards Norwich, Cambridge and Stansted Airport, or to London.

Check train services with National Rail: National Rail - Liverpool Street

Air Transport Suffolk
Stansted Airport is close to the M11 and is served by rail to London (Liverpool Street) and Cambridge, Peterborough and Ely. Stansted is London's third airport after Heathrow and Gatwick, and has direct scheduled flights to Europe and other parts of the UK.

There is also a regional airport, Norwich in Norfolk, with regular services to Manchester and Amsterdam as well as charter flights.

By Road
Suffolk is well connected to the UK road network AND is fortunate to have two major motorways circling it. From the M25 London Orbital motorway,
- the M11 heading to Cambridge runs to the West of Suffolk. At Stansted Airport the A120 serves the south of Suffolk, through to linking up with the A12 at Colchester. Alternatively carry on the M11 until the junction for the A11 which will take you to Newmarket and the A14 to Bury, which covers the North of the county.
- On the East of the county, the A12 goes from London through Essex to Ipswich and up to Lowestoft. Alternatively from Ipswich you can come off the A12 and take the A14 to Felixstowe.

From the Midlands and the North the A14 is part of the Trans European Road Network and runs from the M6/M1 junction crossing the A1 near Huntingdon, then running close to Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, and Ipswich before ending at the port of Felixstowe. Just east of Newmarket the A11 heads north east past Thetford to Norwich.

By Sea
Harwich in Essex, just south of Felixstowe, has regular HSS ferry services operated by Stenaline (www.stenaline.com) to the Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands, and by Scandinavian Seaways ship (www.scansea.com) to Hamburg, Germany and Esbjerg, Denmark.
