The event will be hosted by Stewart White from BBC Look East, supported by Nick Pandolfi from Town 102. Teams of 3-4 players are invited to take part in the day, to raise funds and improve the lives of older people across the county. For further information contact Ursula Austin Tel 01473 353069
Email ursula.austin@ageuksuffolk.org. Proceeds to go to Age UK Suffolk.
We are hoping the event will attract 30 teams of 3 or 4 players to have a fun day with exciting competitions (stableford, longest to pin, shortest putt and a separate putting contest) as well as good food and drink, marvellous prizes, all followed by an auction of promises.
The host, Stewart White of BBC Look East says: “It will be an enjoyable day in beautiful surroundings, with golf being the added attraction. I am hosting and playing to show my support to the charity, which offers a lifeline for many older people in Suffolk, who may be lonely, vulnerable and in need of the many services offered by Age UK Suffolk.”
Nick Pandolfi of Town 102 fm also supporting the event says: “I am looking forward to showing my support in being there and helping with the day – older people are often overlooked when it comes to public support. If I can contribute and raise awareness and help to increase funds for the charity then I am very happy to offer my services.”
Ursula Austin, Business Development Manager of Age UK Suffolk states: “This is another way for us to raise awareness and funds but equally important it will be a great day for golfers to test their skills and network with others from the business world and local community.”

At The Spa Pavilion, Felixstowe
7.30pm Saturday matinee 2.30pm
Ticket prices: Adults £12.00 Consessions £10.00 Child £8.00
"Listen very carefully, I will say this only once..." Stage Door Theatre Company Felixstowe, proudly presents Allo Allo, the hilarious comedy written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft. We all remember this as a popular TV serious and now is the opportunity to re-live the comic genius of these two wonderful writers. The charactersâ?T actions revolve around the cafe owned by Rene Artois (Steve Darlow). He plays a dangerous game by assisting the resistance by hiding two British airmen and also helps the occupiers by concealing their loot (which he hopes to steal for himself). Even more risky he is two (or is it three) - timing his wife (Angie Robertson) via affairs with his resistance bodyguard Michelle [Janine Davey] and his waitress Yvette [Clair Hopkins]. The search for the painting of the 'Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies' by Von Clump, the Knockwurst jokes the slapstick humour we know and love will be there. Other wonderful characters such as Herr Flick [Johnny Bolton] and Helga [Mandy Williams] and of course Officer Crabtree [Steven Laurence] posing as a French policeman with the worst French accent - "good moaning"! Director Lisa Hardy is really excited; "This show is going to be such fun to put on and we are all hoping it will follow the success of Oliver!" All will be laughing in the aisles, so for an extremely entertaining evening you must book your tickets now.

Sunday 8th May - East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices celebrates Chinese New Year with the launch of the sixth East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival!
at Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad in Lowestoft
To celebrate Chinese New Year, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has joined with Gable Events to launch the sixth East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival - one of the largest and most eagerly anticipated team events in the region. Up to 50 crews representing companies, organisations, clubs and groups of friends from all over East Anglia are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course watched by several thousand spectators.

Image supplied by Satalight Photography
According to the Chinese calendar, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit which bodes well for participants in the Dragon Boat Festival as it is considered the luckiest sign in the calendar. It also symbolises great ambition, talent and diplomacy, so the winning teams should be gracious in their victories! No previous experience is required to take part in the dragon boat racing, just plenty of team spirit so why not take up the challenge? Thankfully, you don’t need the physical strength of a Steve Redgrave or the athleticism of a Jessica Ennis to be successful as teamwork and timing will win the day. The dragon boats, racing equipment and qualified helms are provided and each crew is guaranteed a minimum of three races. The Festival offers a full day of fun on land as well as water with plenty of activities on the bankside to entertain teams and spectators between races. The event is supported by BBC Suffolk and BBC Radio Norfolk, Waveney District Council and the Lowestoft Journal.

EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. They provide care and support wherever the family wishes – in families’ own homes, in hospital or at one of their hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham. Danielle Gravestock, Corporate Fundraiser at EACH, comments: “This year we need to raise £4 million in donations to deliver our services amounting to £11,000 a day, every day of the year. The money raised through the generosity of the teams taking part in the Dragon Boat Festival is very important to us and will go towards the one-to-one nursing care and support that is so vital to life-threatened local children and their families”. The top fundraisers for EACH will win the charity trophy plus a full day of spa, gym use and lunch kindly donated by the Marriott Sprowston Manor in Norwich.

Saturday July 30 - The fourth annual Suffolk Dog Day at Helmingham Hall Gardens, Stowmarket, so dig out the dog’s diary and put in a paw print - -

The biggest day out in the county for the dogs is back again to celebrate our canine friends and to raise awareness of the work of The Suffolk Foundation and generate much needed funding.
Chairman Jacqui Mayne and all of last year’s team, who have all returned, will be pulling out every stop to ensure the dogs, their owners and friends have a wooferful, happy, fun and safe day out and everyone who wants to can enter their dogs in the classes.
Pictured are the 19 1/2 couple, 39, hounds from The Easton Harriers who kindly agreed to pose. Always a popular sight at the event, they will be present on the day together with members of the hunt as just one of several ring attractions and displays. News of other new features and entertainment will follow.

Adnams plc, who has supported the event for the past two years, has agreed to back the event once again and Suffolk New College, Heronbuild and Marianna of Ipswich have already signed up as sponsors of the showing classes.
As we go to press the organisers have already received many calls from previous trade stand holders and dog charities eager to be part of the family day that has raised thousands of pounds to support local charities and community groups throughout Suffolk who are providing invaluable support to the most vulnerable in our county.
But there is plenty of space to fill so any business interested in taking a trade stand, sponsoring a class, a display, a ring or any other area should contact Elizabeth Stephenson at the Suffolk Foundation on 01473 734125.
Speaking about the day Jacqui said:” We must be barking mad! But it is such a lovely, fun and happy day for everyone. The committee loves staging the event and of course making people aware of the fantastic work The Suffolk Foundation is achieving right on our doorstep. We are planning for an even more successful day this year.”
Keep an eye out for all that’s happening. The website will go live in the next month. To find out more about the work of The Suffolk Foundation go to www.suffolkfoundation.org.uk.

26th to 30th April 2011 - Stage Door Theatre Company presents ''Allo Allo''
