Bramford Picnic Site
Conveniently located near Ipswich, this spot offers lovely views of a series of traditional water meadows with drainage ditches separating the waters following the River Gipping’s path.

Take a relaxing stroll through the meadows and take in the mesmerising surroundings of colourful butterflies. Keep an eye out for Otters that may be visiting the river, spend the day fishing at one of the three available fishing platforms, and be sure to make your way over the bridge to find the majestic Bramford Church.

Find a parking spot off Ship Lane in Bramford.

The toilets will be open from the 31st of October to the 31st of March on the weekends and every day from the 1st of April to the 30th of October.

Cattawade Picnic Site
Found on the edge of the Stour estuary, this picnic spot is the perfect location for eventful bird-watching. From here, you will see lapwings, oystercatchers, and redshank breeding on the Cattawade Marshes’ pastures.

If you are fond of canoeing or fishing, there are platforms specifically built for this purpose. Start your 60-mile journey from Stour Valley Path to Newmarket from the car park.

Iken Cliff picnic site

Showcasing breathtaking views of the River Alde, this spot is the perfect location for a picnic out in nature. The salt marshes and mud plats serve as globally significant migration sites and feeding grounds for wildfowl and waders. You may be lucky enough to spot Avocet, Redshank, and Shelduck. When you wrap up your picnic, take a short walk to Snape Maltings or the beautiful Iken Church for some culture.

The River Orwell offers some of the most extraordinary views of Suffolk. Take in the sights of ships finding their way up the narrow channels toward Ipswich from your picnic spot.

The mudflats of Orwell serve as a valuable source of food for a wide range of wintering bird species. The bird-watching scene is truly something to behold between the months of December and March.

Nacton Village signposts the picnic site well. You will find a barrier of 2.2 metres high at this picnic site. The car park will be open during the following times:

The car park is closed after 8 pm from the 1st of April to the 31st of October
The car park will be closed after 4:30 pm from the 1st November to the 31st of March

Ramparts Field Picnic Site

If you look closely, you may find a wide variety of beautiful plant species, including thyme and harebells, as you walk through Breckland heath.

The ancient gravel working site is occupied by mesmerising gorse and serves as a great starting point for discovering the beauty of King’s Forest. Furthermore, it is also home to the West Stow Country Park with its interesting nearby Anglo-Saxon village.

Barham Picnic Site

Looking for a place close to the River Gipping to sit back and relax on sheltered, soft grass? This spot offers stunning views of the nearby lakes with their abundance of wildlife, and the rivers make for great angling locations.

Through Claydon village, this site is signposted from the A14.
You won’t be able to access to car park after 4:30 pm from the 31st of October to the 31st of March or after 8 pm between the 1st of April and the 30th of September.
