Dirty Work Exhibition

Trolleybus Weekend At the East Anglia Transport Museum

On Saturday, October 24, check out the East Anglia Transport Museum, where all of the institution’s vehicles will be in operation. As the evenings grow longer, the Museum will be lit up under the streetlights, creating a wonderful atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

Island of Secrets Walk

Where: National Trust Orford Ness, Quay Street, Orford

Take a guided walk into the atomic weapons research establishment’s inner sanctum on Orford Ness, which is normally off-limits. On this 1.5-hour guided walk through the heart of the AWRE area, you can learn about the history of the ‘Pagodas.’ We will approach the outer walls as closely as possible, since access to the interiors is no longer permitted.

Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival

The Suffolk Food & Drink Festival will provide an opportunity to sample and purchase a wide variety of local produce, as well as learn about the producers and farmers who make our county such a wonderful place to live and visit. Suffolk Cream Tea Cruise on Sailing Barge Victor

Where: Old Custom House, Ipswich Waterfront

Sailing down the magnificent and historic River Orwell from Ipswich Dock’s Old Custom’s House, crossing the lock gates, and sailing under the Orwell Bridge. Sailing Barge Victor is specially designed for small groups and individuals to enjoy a leisurely sail.

Oktoberfest

Where: East Point Pavilion, Royal Plain, Lowestoft

It’s time to slip into those trousers with the lederhosen and crank up the oompah tunes, as East Point Pavilion presents its inaugural East Point Oktoberfest. Sir Toby’s Beers’ brew gurus are guiding us through the evening, which will be filled with foot-stomping, stein-clinking, Bavarian cheer. The Munich Oktoberfest is a German beer bash, and only the finest is good enough. On draft and in limited-edition bottles, we’ve secured beer from all six Munich Oktoberfest breweries to ensure an authentic experience.

1st 95th Rifles at Landguard Fort

When: 1 October to 2 October 2022

Where: Landguard Fort, Viewpoint Road, Felixstowe

Landguard Fort will be visited by members of the 95th Rifles, an elite regiment from the Napoleonic era, who will recreate their historic activities. They will prepare and eat historic rations and perform historic drills and tactics.

The Suffolk Wedding Show

Where: Wherstead Park, the Street, Wherstead, Ipswich

This year’s Ipswich wedding show at Wherstead Park, organised by Suffolk Events, will feature over 45 local wedding vendors, including wedding dresses, catering, menswear, floral arrangements, photography, stationery, entertainment, jewellery, hair, makeup, and much more.

Storytelling in the Woods at Sutton Hoo

When: 2, 8, 9, 16, & 27 October 2022

Where: National Trust Sutton Hoo, Tranmer House, Woodbridge

Come and hear the epic tales told by an Anglo-Saxon storyteller. Each session lasts about half an hour. Children should be accompanied at all times, and stories are suitable for children aged 10 and up.

The show pays tribute to country music icons Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers, Billie Jo Spears, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, John Denver, Garth Brooks, and now Shania Twain, all of whom are portrayed by actors.
