Just 5 minutes drive from Southwold, The Old Custom House Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Blythburgh is a delightful 16th Century Custom House and possible jail house! Our home is unique with an “upside down approach”, low entry doors, beamed ceilings and a wrought iron spiral staircase.
We have a tastefully decorated king size bedroom with a private bathroom, there is also a second double bedroom available for family and friends if they are happy to share the bathroom. Both rooms and bathroom are on the ground level with the dining room upstairs via a spiral staircase.

The Old Custom House B&B; is extremely well placed for access to the Suffolk Coast and RSPB Minsmere world renowned bird reserve in Westleton. Blythburgh is on the A12 giving you easy access from London and Essex or Norfolk, and is just 5 miles from Southwold, close to Walberswick and Dunwich (Train station from Liverpool Street via Ipswich). We are also just a half hour drive to Aldeburgh, Snape and Framlingham, so visit us and explore this area of outstanding natural beauty.

Stayed August 2016, travelled with family
We had the pleasure of staying at the Old Custom House 6.8.2016. Wendy and Jeff have a beautiful home they share with travellers. They have adapted the original house to make a quirky in a good way place to stay. Plenty of room to relax in very well presented rooms.
As guests we were welcomed by great hosts fruit baskets and home made muffins in the rooms.
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful to set you up for the day.
An excellent location to explore Southwold and surrounding area. Thanks Wendy and Jeff.
Stayed July 2016, travelled with friends
Have just returned from celebrating the impending marriage of the daughter of one of our group at this excellent bed and breakfast. The attention to detail was second to none including a bowl of fresh fruit, bottled water and freshly made scones and banana and walnut cup cakes – delicious. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating. Breakfast was superb with local produce in abundance. Although the Old Custom House is on the A12 this busy road did not affect our stay at all. We will definitely be returning at some point in the future. Thank you Jeff and Wendy!
